(Novo mesto, 1899 - Ljubljana, 1989)
Božidar Jakac, a Slovenian painter and graphic artist, studied in Prague and continued his studies in Berlin and Paris. He traveled a lot. He first worked as an illustrator and professor of drawing, and then became a freelance artist. During World War II, he worked as a culturist and preserved the events in a number of graphics. He was a co-founder, three times rector and full professor of graphics at the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts. He was admitted to the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts in 1949. Jakac and his earlier works are classified as Slovenian expressionists, but later his works became more subdued in lyrical realism (summarized from Wikipedia).
