(Novo Mesto, 21.3.1951-)
Marin Berovič is a Slovenian painter, conservator and restorer, and he also worked as a professor of painting technology at the School of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. At first he devoted himself to the study of chemistry and biotechnology, but then he increasingly focused on art creation. He mostly painted landscapes in several thematic groups. He made some of the more famous ones while traveling in Scotland. In them, he captured the image of restless and unruly nature, which spreads out in all its grandeur over vast wooded plateaus. Another of his extensive series with landscape motifs is the Triology of Oceans, in which he focused on rough seas and painting waves. His compositions consist of a maximum of two spatial plans. These are clear and transparent structures that often work empty. With them, he tried to remind the viewer of the subordination of man in relation to the invincible forces of nature.
The focus of the artist's interest is revealed in the vibrant color. It was the distinct colored rock that helped him define the world around him and achieve a more experienced sensation of stimuli. The colour shades do not flow into each other, but with their intensity they distance themselves from the real world. With this, Berovič created dream-like visions on the canvases. He also spent a lot of time researching light. In the initial phase, he created mainly with pastels. He was characterized by a smooth drawing, which in the course of his painting development moved more and more towards rough and sharply delineated lines. The clash between real and dream vision is constantly reflected in his paintings. It is a synthesis of order and chaos, which are the result of the artist's personal experience in the world.
Marin Berovič's fine art often seems anxious and terrible, but sometimes we even see hopeless despair and pain in it. His paintings are a true visual ballad in which heightened pessimism reigns, so when we come into contact with them, we repeatedly feel the transience of all of us in timeless nature. He painted outdoors as well as in the studio. During his life, he participated in solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad.

Njegove slike so prava vizualna balada v kateri vlada stopnjevan pesimizem, zato ob stiku z njimi večkrat občutimo minljivost vseh nas v brezčasni naravi.
