Lajči Pandur was one of the first Slovenian academic artists to present the image of the Pannonian world through his works of art. After graduating from high school in Zlaegerszeg, he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. There, Pandur studied painting and graphics under the mentorship of Ljubo Babić and Tomislav Krizman.
After successfully completing his graduation exam, he continued his studies at a specialist course for some time, and then returned to his native Lendava. There he began teaching art education. He was one of the more enthusiastic artists who constantly tried to upgrade his knowledge. He went on numerous study trips, including to Budapest, where he became fascinated by the style of Hungarian artists. He was particularly impressed by those who continued the dramatic realism of the Pomunkacsy era, which influenced the artist's further work.
After the war, Pandur worked as a propaganda artist. He also became a decorator for the Russian commander's office, and later resumed teaching. In 1949, he moved to Maribor, where he remained an art teacher. Pandur's work can be divided into several periods. In the first phase, he was mainly interested in Croatian nature, which he eventually replaced with Prekmurje themes. He mainly depicted hardworking farmers, peaceful landscapes and local genres. His works were extremely monumental. In them, he managed to combine human and animal bodies, which he incorporated into a picturesque background. Lajči Pandur developed his own recognizable style. It was based on brown shades, which he supplemented with harmonious colors.
Later, he refined the scale with more vibrant colors, with which he achieved greater plasticity, and finally leaned towards a more purified and linear art. In addition to landscape depictions, he also painted portraits, floral still lifes, female nudes and travel sketches. He actively participated in various painting colonies, congresses, and domestic and international exhibitions. He presented his images both at home and abroad. On the centenary of his birth, a large retrospective of his works was organized in his native Lendava, which encompassed a large part of the artist's oeuvre. The works in the exhibition preserved the memory of the landscape, people, and way of life of the extreme northeastern Slovenian region and represent a lasting mark on Slovenian artistic heritage.

Lajči Pandur je bil eden prvih slovenskih akademskih umetnikov, ki je preko svojih umetnin predstavil . podobo panonskega sveta. Po končani gimnaziji v Zlaegerszegu, se je vpisal na Likovno akademijo v Zagrebu. Tam je Pandur študiral slikarstvo in grafiko pod mentorstvom Ljuba Babića in Tomislava Krizmana.
Po uspešno zaključenem diplomskem izpitu se je še nekaj časa izpopolnjeval na specialki, nato pa se je vrnil v rodno Lendavo. Tam je pričel poučevati likovno vzgojo. Bil je eden izmed bolj zagnanih umetnikov, ki je svoje znanje ves čas skušal nadgraditi. Odpravil se je na številna študijska potovanja, med drugim tudi v Budimpešto, kjer se je navdušil nad slogom madžarskih umetnikov. Še posebej so ga navdušili tisti, ki so nadaljevali z dramatičnim realizmom pomunkacsyjevske dobe, kar je vplivalo na umetnikovo nadaljnje ustvarjanje.
Po vojni je Pandur deloval kot propagandni umetnik. Postal je tudi dekorater za rusko komandaturo, kasneje pa je zopet nadaljeval s poučevanjem. Leta 1949 se je preselil v Maribor, kjer je ostal likovni pedagog. Pandurjevo ustvarjanje lahko razdelimo v več obdobij. V prvi fazi ga je zanimala predvsem hrvaška narava, ki jo je naposled zamenjal s prekmursko tematiko. Upodabljal je predvsem delavne kmete, mirno pokrajino in lokalni žanr. Njegova dela so bila izredno monumentalna. Na njih je uspel združiti človeška in živalska telesa, ki jih je vpel v slikovito ozadje. Lajči Pandur je razvil svoj lastno prepoznaven slog. Temeljil je na rjavih odtenkih, ki jih je dopolnil s harmoničnimi barvami.
Kasneje je lestvico oplemenitil še z bolj živahnimi barvami, s katerimi je dosegel večjo plastičnost, naposled pa se je oprl k bolj izčiščeni in linearni umetnosti. Poleg upodobitev krajine je slikal tudi portrete, cvetlična tihožitja, ženske akte in potopisne skice. Aktivno se je udeleževal najrazličnejših slikarskih kolonij, kongresov ter domačih in mednarodnih razstav. S svojimi podobami se je predstavil tako na domačih tleh kot v tujini. Ob stoletnici rojstva so mu v rodni Lendavi priredili veliko retrospektivo del, s katero so zaobjeli večji delu umetnikovega opusa. Z deli na razstavi so ohranili spomin na pokrajino, ljudi in način življenja skrajnega severovzhodnega slovenskega območja ter predstavljajo trajen pečat slovenski likovni dediščini.
