Ivan Kos, a Slovenian painter and graphic artist, attended the grammar school in Maribor, studied at the Vienna Academy of Painting. He discontinued his studies at the break-up of Austria-Hungary and in 1919 enrolled at the Prague Academy. He then settled in Maribor, where he taught drawing at the grammar school and primary school. Kos painted in oil and watercolor and worked on graphics. His works include compositions, portraits, still lifes and landscapes, as a graphic artist he made woodcuts and linocuts. He has exhibited several times in Maribor, including Ljubljana, Prague and Plzen.
