The painter Anton Repnik is one of the most recognizable Slovenian self-taught artists. He trained to be a shoemaker, but soon retired with a disability. He spent most of his life in Vuzenica and Muta, where he created in his studio and gallery. It was introduced to the basics of painting by the famous Carinthian academic painter Karel Pečko. He also illustrated several books. He has exhibited at home and abroad, and has received several awards for his work. Repnik is considered a typical representative of Slovenian naive painting.
