Albert Sirk, a Slovenian painter, attended painting courses at the academies in Venice and Urbino, in between he was in the Austro-Hungarian Navy in Pula, where he became its official painter. He first taught drawing in Trieste, then as a drawing teacher at a school in Slovenske gorice and at a grammar school in Celje. Albert Sirk is known as a true painter of the sea, sailors and fishermens and the first Slovenian mariner. He sought his marine motifs in Dalmatia and Macedonia. In addition to the sea, he also painted some green vedutas. He painted especially in the technique of oil and watercolor, first under the influence of expressionism and new reality (portraits, socially critical motifs), but mostly realistically with strong colors. He was also involved in illustrations, caricatures and drawings (summarized from Wikipedia).
