Janez Kovačič is a Slovenian painter, restorer and graphic artist. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, where he also completed his postgraduate studies, and then lived in Germany for some time. According to Janez Mesesnel, his paintings and drawings are careful depictions of selected cut-outs from nature, which reflect the good Slovenian painting tradition and also the tension of each time confronting the pictorial task. Common motifs in his paintings are various cutouts along the water, streams, trees, old vineyard cottages and outbuildings. Janez Kovačič's paintings represent a successful continuation of a good painting and especially landscape tradition and significantly contribute to our color and tonal painting realism (summarized from Wikipedia).
