Maksim Sedej, a Slovene painter, attended a technical high school in Ljubljana and studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where he graduated in 1932. His works were also exhibited at the Venice Biennale, where he presented Yugoslav art. After the war, he taught at the School of Arts and Crafts, and was (first full-time, then part-time) a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. His painting depicts the world of everyday people and their emotions as well as their dreams of life.
