(Vrhpolje, Kamnik, 1923 – Kamnik, 2007)
After completing his military service, Polde Mihelič got a job in the ceramic workshop of Rudolf Schnabel, where he was noticed by prof. Zoran Didek, who advised him on education in the field of art. Mihelič enrolled at the School of Design and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. Until his retirement, he worked as an art pedagogue, but at the same time he prepared more than 35 solo art exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions at home and abroad. He was also an avid collector of antiques. Polde Mihelič was a very good naive painter. His themes include typical characters of peasants, violinists, pilgrims, carolers, pastors, etc. He depicted barbed figures, wooden houses with thatched roofs and churches with bell towers in the middle of the village, which he arranged symmetrically, in steps or in height. Its colors are subdued, dominated by brown, green and blue tones, with a characteristic winter whiteness. The paintings with their motifs and colors work darkly and the influence of realism is recognizable with the addition of a romantic and fairy-tale-inspired life (summarized from Wikipedia). For all additional information regarding the purchase and other services, you can contact us by phone or e-mail: info@portaalpina-gallery.com
