Marjan Skumavc, a Slovenian academic painter, cartoonist, journalist, boxer and sports worker, spent his youth in Notranjska and Gorenjska. He studied to be a bricklayer in Jesenice, then enrolled at the School of Design in Ljubljana and continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, and later studied at a special school with Professor Janez Bernik. During his journalistic work he painted, had about fifty solo exhibitions, participated in numerous colonies and group exhibitions. He lived and worked in Ljubljana and Istria.
