(Ljubljana, 1892 - Golnik, 1978)
Anica Zupanec-Sodnik, a Slovene painter, attended a teacher's college and graduated in 1911, at the same time she studied painting first with Žmitko and Jakopič. She later studied in Munich, Prague and Florence. After returning to Ljubljana, she developed her own style, which is close to impressionism with translucent plein air lighting and soft color tones of local shades, but at the core it remains faithful to realism. In the 1930s, its color scale became juicier and richer, and the expression was emphasized. After the war, however, she changed her style of painting if she reduced the format of the paintings, and the brush strokes became smaller and less colorful. She painted both in oil and in watercolor, and the motifs are dominated by portraits and still lifes, especially floral ones (summarized from Wikipedia). For all additional information regarding the purchase and other services, you can contact us by phone or e-mail: info@portaalpina-gallery.com
