(Kranj, 1752 - Kranj, 1828)
Leopold Layer was born to the painter Marko Layer and after his death he took over the family painting workshop in Kranj. He created several religious paintings for churches and Carniolan citizens, many frescoes, and he also painted beehive extensions. At first Layer imitated Metzinger's paintings, then Kremser-Schmidt's paintings. Layer is considered to be the last Baroque or late Baroque painter in the area of today's Slovenia and the first in the consciousness of a Carniolan artist (summarized from Wikipedia).-
