The painter France Pavlovec attended a painting school in Ljubljana, and between 1923 and 1928 the Academy in Zagreb, where he also graduated. He devoted himself to painting quite late and returned to Ljubljana in 1928 as a freelance artist. Pavlovec liked to paint landscapes in oil technique, exceptionally portraits and still lifes. He is considered the best landscape painter according to the painters Grohar and Jakopič. His most common motif is the Sava River from Medno to Ježica, he also painted a lot in Bohinj along the Soča River, he was attracted by Ljubljana and its surroundings as well as Istrian motifs.
