Matej Sternen, a Slovenian painter and restorer, studied at the Crafts School in Graz, then enrolled in the School of Arts and Crafts and later studied at the Academy of Arts in Vienna. Sternen's works are mostly portraits and female nudes, as he clung mainly to figural motifs. He was mostly engaged in oil and wall painting, but he also mastered drawing. Together with Jama, Grohar and Jakopič, he is one of the first Slovene graphics, who are the best representatives of Slovene modern painters (summarized from Wikipedia).-
